Operation Shetland 2024: 80th Anniversary of Catalina VCs

Help us commemorate two Victoria Crosses (VCs) awarded to Catalina Pilots in 1944 by supporting a flight to Aberdeen, Shetland and Wick in the only remaining operational Catalina Flying Boat outside of the Americas.

As a shareholder operated aircraft, Catalina ‘Miss Pick Up’ is available for their use as well as her more well-known role as an airshow ‘star’. Shareholder/pilot Jeff Boyling has planned a flight to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the two Coastal Command Catalina Victoria Cross awards, one posthumously to Flt Lt David Hornell, RCAF and the other to F/O, later Flt Lt, John Cruickshank.

This will be a momentous trip, spread over several days, but will come at a cost. Supporting this flight will ensure the heroism of Catalina crews is not forgotten. If you wish to donate toward the costs, go to the following link where there is a great deal of background information on both Hornell and Cruickshank and the actions they were involved in.
